Alastair Stewart wife-British journalist and newscaster, Alastair James Stewart was born on June 22, 1952, in Emsworth, Hampshire, England.

He was born to a Scottish father and an English father. Stewart had his education in Scotland at the public Madras College in St. Andrews, Fife, before moving to England to attend Salesian College, an independent school, in Farnborough, Hampshire, and St. Augustine’s Abbey School, a private school, in Ramsgate, Kent.

After studying economics and politics at the University of Bristol, he spent 1974–1976 working for the National Union of Students.

Stewart’s career in television began in 1976 in Southampton with ITV’s Southern Television subsidiary. He worked as a reporter, business correspondent, host, and documentarian.

Before Lord Mountbatten was slain by the IRA in 1979, he had one of the final interviews with him. He also spent six weeks at Ford Open Prison to produce a half-hour documentary.

He began working for ITN in 1980 as an industrial correspondent and quickly joined the network’s staff of other newsreaders. He worked as a reporter and presenter for ITN’s Channel 4 News from 1983 to 1986. He also hosted ITN’s News at 5.45.

Stewart presented the annual event for ITV for the tenth consecutive year during ITN’s network coverage of the 1992 Budget. Sir Alastair Burnet, who retired from ITN in 1991, was succeeded by him, and he was hosting the show for the fifth year.

During the 2003 Iraq War, Stewart hosted a daily show called Live with Alastair Stewart on the now-defunct ITV News Channel.

Additionally, he was a frequent contributor to ITV’s coverage of national elections, serving as co-anchor of the network coverage for the general elections in 2005 (with Jonathan Dimbleby), 1997 (alongside Dimbleby and Michael Brunson), 1992 (alongside Jon Snow), and 1987 (alongside Alastair Burnet).

He served as the primary anchor of ITV’s all-night show covering the 2008 US Presidential election, Election Night Live: America Decides.

Stewart presided over the first-ever live television debate between the three leading candidates for prime minister in the 2010 general election Labor incumbent Gordon Brown, Conservative leader David Cameron, and Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg on April 15, 2010.

ITV, the BBC, and Sky were tasked with producing three discussions. ITV selected Stewart to moderate the first discussion by drawing names at random.

Stewart served as a stand-in host for Talkradio later in 2020. It was revealed that he would join GB News to anchor a weekend news and current affairs program from the beginning of April 2021.

He declared on July 16, 2021, that he would temporarily stop presenting on GB News due to a hip issue, and he did so on August 28, 2021. In the period from August 30 to September 3, he filled in for Andrew Neil.

Alastair Stewart & Friends aired its final episode on March 19, 2023, on GB News. A few days later, Stewart made his retirement announcement.

He said that he would keep making appearances on GB News as a commentator and occasional guest, and he offered his opinion on King Charles III’s coronation on May 6th.
