Prigozhin has since then been in the news. He openly criticized the Russian Defense Ministry for corruption and for mishandling the war against Ukraine.
In June 2023, he used the Wagner Group to launch a rebellion against the Russian military leadership, accusing the Defense Ministry of shelling Wagner soldiers.
In August 2023, Prigozhin hit major headlines after he was “presumed dead” in a plane crash in Tver Oblast, north of Moscow, along with nine other people. The plane was reportedly shot down by Russian forces.

The plane reportedly caught fire after hitting the ground and burned up. It had been in flight for less than 30 minutes. Unconfirmed reports said the jet belonged to Prigozhin.
“An investigation has been launched into the Embraer plane crash that occurred tonight in the Tver region. According to the passenger list, among them is the name and surname of Yevgeny Prigozhin,” Rosaviatsia said.
However, at this time of writing, it’s not immediately clear as to whether the Wagner boss, Yevgeny Prigozhin had boarded the flight.

Yevgeny Prigozhin has three children; a son named Pavel Prigozhin, and two daughters; Polina Prigozhina and Veronika Prigozhina.
Pavel was born in either 1996 or 1998, Polina was born in 1992, and Veronika was born in 2005.
Yevgeny’s children live away from the spotlight hence their date of birth, age, and occupation are unknown at this time of writing.
Until the invasion of Ukraine, Yevgeny’s children were able to move freely across the European Union but currently their movement has been restricted.
