On an individual level, Lookman’s exceptional performance during the 2015–16 season did not go unnoticed. He was honored with the LFE Apprentice of the Year in the Championship, recognizing his outstanding contributions and promising talent during that period.
His journey continued to unfold at Atalanta, where Lookman further solidified his presence in the footballing world. In the 2022–23 season, he earned the prestigious title of Atalanta Player of the Season.
Lookman’s senior career kicked off in 2015 when he played as a forward for Charlton Athletic in the Championship. In January 2017, he moved to Everton, where he primarily played as a winger. He has represented England at various youth levels and made his debut for Nigeria in 2022.
Joining Charlton Athletic’s academy in 2014, Lookman swiftly progressed through the ranks, making his first-team debut in November 2015. His goal-scoring prowess was evident, contributing significantly to the team’s success.
In January 2017, Lookman signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Everton. Despite initial declarations that he wouldn’t leave on loan, he joined RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga for the 2017–18 season. After returning to RB Leipzig in 2019, Lookman had subsequent loan spells with Fulham and Leicester City.
On 4 August 2022, Ademola Lookman joined Serie A club Atalanta on a four-year contract, scoring on his debut and delivering notable performances, including scoring braces in consecutive matches.
Lookman, eligible for both England and Nigeria, initially turned down Nigeria’s approach in 2017. Despite successes with England at the U20 World Cup and U21 level, he eventually switched allegiance to Nigeria in February 2022. He made his debut for Nigeria on 25 March 2022, contributing to the African section of qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in a match against Ghana.
