Facebook has made a complete change with the introduction of Facebook Timeline. Our Facebook pages haven’t been the same since. The big banner-like image dominates, and then your “life story”. Timeline is where all your posts, photos, memorable events are kept, all arranged in reverse chronological order. Admittedly you have to scroll down quite a few meters to see your early years, but sometimes the trip is just worth the nostalgia.
In a later update, Facebook is also bringing a Timeline App that allows you to share more things like books, movies, attractions, etc. All for the purpose of social interaction. But we’re a little ahead here, because this simple post is meant to show you how to add a life event to your Facebook Timeline.
Go back in time and add life events
Facebook has now made it easy to go back in time and add important life events to your Facebook Timeline. It’s a few simple clicks. This is the way:
Log in to your Facebook profile and go to Timeline. You’ll see a link for Life Events right next to the Status update box. Clicking on it will bring up the following options:
Life events are organized around different categories in your life such as categories and subcategories. For example, clicking Home & Living opens these options…
Click on any one you want to update and fill in the details. This is like a status update (but in the past). You can add photos, enter a short story as a description, and control who can see it.
Life events are now added to your timeline for your friends to see and comment on the update. Just like any other timeline event, you can choose to edit or hide the event. There are almost 5 main sections and more than 40 others which cover all areas of your life.
Why should you add a life event?
It simply tells your story and share it with your social network friends. Life events are interesting if you want to add everything that happened in your life before joining Facebook. Facebook has moved from just updating statuses and likes to a life recording/recording service. As time goes by, it can hold a store of your life’s memories for you to nostalgic for.
