Probably one of the most confusing
aspects of PS Vita
for new owners who own some digital games is that when they delete those digital copies of their games they can also lose all progress if they are not careful.
Thankfully, there are several ways to back up your saved game data and prevent this from happening. Read on to learn more about them.
Save your PS Vita game and game data to your Mac, PC or PS3
This method applies if you don’t have a PS Plus subscription. To get started, on your computer, open the Content Manager Assistant app. Then on your PS Vita, open the Content Manager app.
There, select your PS3 or Computer and choose whether you will perform the backup over Wi-Fi or USB.
On the next screen, below Copy content select PS Vita System for PC optional and then, under Applicationsselect psvitathis is where your digital Vita games are stored.
On the next screen you will see all your digital games and their sizes (including its save files). Select the one you want to back up and select Copy.
The game and all its data will then be transferred to your PS3 or computer. On a Mac, you can usually find it (unless you set it up differently) on Documents > PS Vita > APPS
Save your PS Vita game data to Sony’s online storage
If you happen to have a PS Plus (a paid subscription for PlayStation users that gives PS3 and PS Vita owners a handful of free games each year as well as other perks), you’ll be glad to know. that this popular service includes a cool feature: The ability to back up (both manually and automatically) all your game save files to Sony’s Online Storage.
That means if you have a PS Plus, then you won’t have to back up your entire digital game but just back up its files, which is much more convenient.
As a backup, you manually save your data before deleting your games: On PS Vita, go to the Content Manager app and this time select Online Storage.
Then under Copy saved data select PS Vita system for online storage select.
You will then see all the games that have saved their data and sizes. Select the ones you want to backup and choose Copy.
Hot Tip: To automatically back up your game save files, select “I” icon next to each game and tick the checkbox next to it Auto upload. You will then see a green arrow next to the game indicating that the feature is enabled.
And if you want to recover your saved data, just repeat the above process after downloading your game, but choose Online storage to PS Vita system alternative option. Then restart your game and your progress will not change.
