American football coach, Zachary William Taylor was born on May 10th, 1983 in Norman, Oklahoma in the United States of America.

Taylor is the National Football League’s head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals (NFL). He began his NFL career as an offensive assistant, and in Super Bowl LIII, he served as the quarterbacks coach for the Los Angeles Rams.

The next year, in 2019, Taylor was appointed head coach of Cincinnati, where in his first two years, he had a 6-25-1 record.

He helped the Bengals win their first playoff game since 1990 in 2021, snapping the longest active losing streak among the four major North American sports, and led them to their first trip in the Super Bowl since 1988.

Taylor was hired as the Miami Dolphins’ NFL assistant quarterbacks coach on January 30, 2012. After Bill Lazor, the team’s former offensive coordinator, was fired on November 30, 2015, he was elevated to interim offensive coordinator.

Taylor was appointed offensive coordinator for the University of Cincinnati Bearcats in January 2016 by head coach Tommy Tuberville. According to Taylor, Tuberville was introduced to him by Jim Turner, a former offensive line coach with the Dolphins.

Sean McVay, the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams, hired Taylor as an assistant wide receivers coach in 2017. He received a promotion to quarterbacks coach in 2018. Taylor led quarterback Jared Goff throughout that campaign to the NFC Championship and a spot in Super Bowl LIII on February 3, 2019.

The Cincinnati Bengals hired Taylor as their head coach on February 4, 2019. In his first game as a head coach, he was defeated by the Seattle Seahawks, 21-20. The Bengals’ 0-11 record, the worst start to a season in team history, came after he and the team lost their next ten games.

Taylor’s starting quarterback for the 2020 campaign was first-round pick Joe Burrow. Additionally, Andy Dalton wasn’t on the Bengals’ roster for the first time since the 2010 season because he had been signed by the Dallas Cowboys in the summer. The Bengals’ season-opening defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers on September 13, 2020, ended with a score of 16–13.

The Bengals’ 33-25 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in week four marked Taylor and the team’s first victory of the year. Taylor’s road record with the Bengals fell to 0-11-1 after a week five loss to the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 27-3, where Taylor called an offensive drive and field goal in the closing seconds to avoid a shutout.

Joe Burrow, who had recovered from his leg injury from the previous year, started the first game of Taylor’s third season at center field in good health. The Bengals defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 thanks to a last-second field goal by rookie kicker Evan McPherson in overtime.

Sadly, McPherson also failed on two of his attempts, a 57-yarder with 0:26 left in regulation and a 49-yarder in overtime following Crosby’s third failure. With 1:55 remaining in overtime, the Packers completed one final drive down the field, and Crosby scored on a 49-yard attempt to give the Bengals a 3-2 deficit.

The Bengals’ 41-21 victory over the Ravens in Week 16 gave them their first winning season since 2015. When the Bengals defeated the Kansas City Chiefs the next week, Taylor contributed to them winning the AFC North division for the first time since 2015.

After defeating the Las Vegas Raiders 26-19 in the Wild Card Round, Taylor subsequently guided the Bengals to their first postseason victory since the 1990 campaign.

The Bengals fell to the Los Angeles Rams 23-20 in Super Bowl LVI. Taylor agreed to a contract extension through 2026 when the season was over. Although the specifics weren’t made public, Taylor’s $3.5 million yearly salary was the lowest among the 32 NFL head coaches before the deal.
