Will Black Ops 6 have SBMM?

SBMM or skill-based match making is a popular way of sorting players into matches when  playing versus multiplayer games, and it’s always a hot topic in the Call of Duty community, especially for the upcoming Black Ops 6.

If you want to know if the game is set to feature SBMM, I’ve got an answer for you.

Will Black Ops 6 have SBMM?

While Activision has not specifically announced that Black Ops 6 will have skill-based match making, it’s almost a guarantee that it will.

It has been featured in every Call of Duty game since the original Modern Warfare back in 2007, and there’s no reason things should change now.

Activision even recently released a comprehensive white paper on the role that skills plays in COD matchmaking, which pretty definitively tells us how much import they place on it. You can read the full paper here.

The paper goes in depth on the various factors that relate to the idea of skill in matchmaking, such as defining a Raw Skill value for each player, Skill Grouping for when players in a party have a disparity between their ability, team balance, and much more.

With such a complex system behind the matchmaking of the COD games – especially as Activision has just revealed the magic behind it –  I’m fairly certain there won’t be any major changes to how it all works in Black Ops 6.

If Activision does outright confirm SBMM will be in Black Ops 6, I’ll also update this guide with the information.
