American cellist Yo-Yo Ma was born on October 7, 1955. He was a child prodigy who began performing at the age of four and a half. He was born in Paris to Chinese parents and received his education in New York City. He attended Columbia University, graduated from the Juilliard School and Harvard University, and has performed as a soloist with orchestras all around the world. He has over 90 albums under his belt and 19 Grammy nominations.
