Who Is Neil Currey Partner?: British bodybuilder and former Mr. Olympia competitor, Neil Currey has reportedly died at 34.
His death was announced on Tuesday, 12 September 2023 by his former coach, Milos Sarcev in a post via his official Instagram account but didn’t mention the cause of death.
Taking to the social media platform, Sarcev wrote: “Absolutely shocking, heartbreaking news – that my former athlete @neil_currey died today”
“My last/best memory of him was this smiling face after he won New York Pro and fulfilled his lifetime dream of qualifying for the Mr. Olympia”
“I am lost for words and filled with pain and sadness. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. RIP Neil and God bless your soul”
Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Currey developed a passion for bodybuilding at a younger age and always had an interest in fitness.
He began competing in 2017. In 2019, Currey made his IFBB debut in the Classic Physique competition, where he finished 7th. Over the years, Currey competed across the world and trained others in the industry.
He finished first at the New York Pro in 2022, booking his ticket to the prestigious Mr. Olympia competition. Later in the year, he participated in the 2022 Mr. Olympia where he finished 16th.
Currey’s death comes just days after legendary women’s professional bodybuilder Lisa Lyon who died at age 70 after battling cancer.
The company Hosstile, which Currey worked with in the past, also mourned the bodybuilder in an Instagram post;
“We are extremely saddened by the news of Neil Currey’s passing. His dedication to his craft, willingness to support teammates and others, good energy and lightheartedness were what stood out when Neil came to mind”
“We hold on to the memories we were lucky to share with Neil and want to send our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Rest in Peace Neil”
