Cormac Karl “Max” Christie Jr., known simply as Max Christie was born on February 10, 2003 in Arlington Heights, Illinois, United States. He is the oldest of two sons birthed by psychologist, Katrinas Christie and aircraft pilot Max Christie Sr. Christie was birthed into a basketball playing family.
His mother Katrinas played college basketball at Northwestern, where she scored over 1000 points and his father Max Sr. played college basketball at Parkland College and Wisconsin-Superior. Christie’s younger brother Cameron also plays basketball at Rolling Meadows High School.
Christie attended Rolling Meadows High School in Rolling Meadows, Illinois where he played basketball. During his freshman season, he averaged 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists per game. As a sophomore, Christie’s stats increased as he averaged 25.5 points, 10 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He scored a career-high 51 points against Elk Grove High School.
After graduating from high school, Christie got offers from Duke, Villanova and Ohio State but he committed to play ing college basketball for Michigan State University, which he made public on July 7, 2020.
Christie’s performance was immediately felt as he averaged 9.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game as a freshman and was named to the Big Ten All Freshman Team. He scored his season-high 21 points in a 79-67 win against Nebraska on January 5, 2022.
Christie was declared eligible for draft for the 2022 NBA draft. The Los Angeles Lakers selected him in the second round of the 2022 NBA draft with the 35th overall pick. Prior to signing his rookie scale contract with the Lakers, he joined the Lakers’ 2022 NBA Summer League.
On March 8, 2023, Christie was assigned to the South Bay Lakers of the NBA G- League, where he was recalled after two days by the Los Angeles Lakers.
