Dwayne Gordon was reportedly shot dead during a church service in Johannesburg with other congregants sustaining various injuries from the shooting incident.
He died on Friday, 7 October 2023. Gordon is said to have been leading a service on Friday, 7 at the Eagles Christian Centre the armed gang members stormed the church and opened fire.
The shocking and horrific scenes which were captured on a live stream via the church’s Facebook page also showed the suspects robbing congregants before fleeing the scene.

On Sunday, 8 October 2023, a candlelight vigil was held for Dwayne Gordon in Randburg. Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.
In a statement, Eagle Christian Centre said their congregants, which included mothers and their children, remain traumatized by the incident. The incident has left the community in a state of shock and mourning.
