Who Are Rodion Amirov Siblings?: Rodion Amirov, officially known as Rodion Ruslanovich Amirov was a Russian professional ice hockey player.
He developed a passion for playing ice hockey at a younger age, was consistent throughout his career, and rose to become one of the most sought-after ice hockey players.
Amirov played with Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the Kontinental Hockey League. He was drafted in the first round, 15th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
In April 2021, Amirov agreed to a three-year entry-level contract with the draft club, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
After the contract, he moved to North America, to be assigned to the Maple Leafs AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, for the remainder of the 2020–21 season
In February 2022, Kyle Dubas (Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager) revealed Amirov was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was undergoing treatment.
Due to his ongoing treatment and recovery, he missed out on the entire 2022–23 season but he extended his contract with Salavat Yulaev.
On Wednesday, 10 May 2023, Amirov agreed to a one-year loan from the Maple Leafs for the following 2023–24 season
Sadly, the Toronto Maple Leafs forward Rodion Amirov has died at 21, his agent, Dan Milstein, confirmed on Monday, August 14, 2023.
Milstein posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Amirov died after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. He wrote
“It is we great sadness that we announce the passing of Rodion Amirov. Two years ago, Rodion was diagnosed with a brain tumour. From the moment he received the news, he refused to speak in the negative, determined to enjoy every day, facing it with the same positive attitude he showed during his hockey career.
We will always remember his courage, his desire, his will, his smile, all of the great things about him. We’d like to thank his doctors, who took great care of him. We’d like to thank the Toronto Maple Leafs and his KHL – Salavat Yulayev Ufa team.
Both did everything possible to help in any way, do whatever was necessary for Rodion and the Amirov family. And we’d like to thank hockey fans all over the world who sent notes of encouragement and best wishes over the past two years. They meant so much to the Amirov family”
