Planes have finally returned to Fortnite OG as part of the latest update, so here’s everything you need to know in order to find yourself an X-4 Stormwing.
Love them or hate them, planes are back in Fortnite after a long slumber. These flying vehicles let you soar around the map and attack enemies from above, making them a bit of a game-changer for players who know how to control them.
X-4 Stormwing plane locations in Fortnite OG
The best place to get yourself an X-4 Stormwing plane is Frosty Flights. This classic POI can be found in the snow biome at the southwestern corner of the map.
There are two planes parked inside the hangars at Frosty Flights, but as this location has only just returned to the map in the recent 27.10 update, you’re probably going to have a lot of competition trying to get one!

My best advice is to land here at the very start of a match and run straight for a plane. Don’t worry about picking up weapons, as the X-4 Stormwings have turret guns mounted on them for quick aerial takedowns.
How to control the X-4 Stormwing plane
Planes are a little tricky to control in Fortnite, so it can take a while to get used to flying them. You’ll need to pull back on the left joystick to fly higher and push up on the left joystick to descend. You can use the left and right bumpers to roll and the build button to boost.
As well as controlling the plane’s movement, you can use the usual shooting button (eg. R2 on PS5) to fire a constant stream of bullets at whatever’s in front of you. This is great for destroying buildings or eliminating opponents in open areas. If you want to get out, hold the reload button.

The best thing about the X-4 Stormwing is that your teammates can ride in the plane with you, and they can use any weapons they have in their loadouts to shoot opponents on the ground, making this a deadly combo when playing in Squads.
However, if you find yourself on the other side of an X-4 Stormwing ambush, the good news is that you can take the plane down with enough firepower – and you could wipe out an entire team in the process if they’re not being careful!
