Sam Whiterock made his Air New Zealand Cup debut for Canterbury against Wellington in 2008 and made his Super Rugby debut for the Crusaders in the 2010 Super 14 season against the Highlanders.

Sam Whitelock cemented his place as a regular starter for the All Blacks in 2012, starting 13 of the 14 Tests, but came midway through that year’s 42-10 victory over Italy in Rome. Sam Whitelock scored the fourth try of his Test career in a 32-16 win over South Africa in the Rugby Championship, scoring the first try for the All Blacks 25 minutes into the test.
