Who is De’Andre Hunter?
De’Andre James Hunter is the son of Aaron Hunter Sr. and Priscilla Hunter . He was born on December 2, 1997 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. He has three siblings; Aaron Jr., Candice and Cheyanne Hunter.
He grew up with his siblings in Lawncrest, Philadelphia and went to Friends’ Central School in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. Hunter played high school basketball all through the years. As a junior, he was averaging 21.6 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game.
Hunter made improvements to his game as a senior, where he averaged 23.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists as well as making 2.5 blocks each game. Hunter was named Pennsylvania Class AA Player of the Year and ranked as the 72nd overall recruit and 14th best small forward in the 2016 high school class.
Hunter was scouted by NC State and Notre Dame who in turn sent him offers but he committed to Virginia on September 12, 2015.
