Have you heard about Content Warning? This new indie darling is another multiplayer horror game in a similar vein to Lethal Company.
Much like LC, Content Warning has come out of nowhere and stormed into popularity with gamers and streamers, rocketing the game up the Steam sales charts. If you’re curious, here are the basics of the hot new game in town.
What is Content Warning?
Put simply, Content Warning is a multiplayer horror game where you and some friends must try to create a scary video by delving into the monster-infested Old World and recording yourselves encountering said monsters. Basically, it’s a video game adaptation of “Do it for the Vine”. That reference isn’t dated, is it?

The game has a lot in common with Lethal Company, both can be loosely described as multiplayer horror job simulators. That said, Content Warning does have something extra to set it apart from its contemporaries. Your job here is to record a video, one that will get sufficient views on SpookTube to launch your career as a spook-fluencer.
One of the crew will need to bring the camera, which only has a limited amount of recording time. Their job is to record the team as they encounter monsters and try to get as much of the action on film as possible. This means that your job is not to avoid the deadly creatures, rather you need to get just close enough to be in danger and record it for the video.

The more spooks you record, the more views your video will receive. You get a limited number of days to do this, and if you do not meet your quota of scrap- I mean views, it’s game over. Success means money, which you can spend on new gear to improve your videos.
From boom mics and better lighting, to emotes and effects to make your video more dramatic; everything you do, you do it for the views. Just like a real job, you do all of this over and over with increasingly higher expectations, until eventually, inevitably, you fail or die.
The thing that sets Content Warning apart is that the video mechanic isn’t just a gimmick, you genuinely do record a video as you play. After each session, the team gets to sit together and watch the video back. Better again, you can save the video outside of the game, so you can keep these treasured memories of your friends being eaten by monsters, forever.
