What Happened To Avicii: How Did He Die?

Avicii was a well-known and well-paid Swedish-born DJ and music producer who died in 2018 with a net worth of $50 million. He shot to fame in 2011 with his hit “Levels.” His tracks “Hey Brother”, “Addicted to You”, “The Days”, “The Nights”, and “Waiting for Love” were all huge hits. Many music outlets regard Avicii as one of the DJs who first propelled electronic music into the Top 40 hit zone.

How did Avicii die?

Avicii, 28, died on April 20, 2018, in Muscat, where he was on vacation. No immediate cause of death was given. The Omani police claimed on April 21 that there was “no criminal suspicion” or proof of foul play in Bergling’s death. A buddy raised concern about Bergling’s mental state to his father Klas the day before his death. TMZ later stated that he committed suicide by cutting himself with a glass shard. On April 26, his family sent an open statement in which they stated:

“Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An over-achieving perfectionist who traveled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be able to be happy and to do what he loved most – music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could now not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace. Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight. Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive. We love you, The Family”

Where was Avicii buried?

Bergling’s family announced preparations for a private funeral with “the people who were closest to him” on May 22. On June 8, a funeral service was performed at Stockholm’s Skogskyrkogrden cemetery. In June 2018, he was laid to rest at Hedvig Eleonora Church.

Meanwhile, Bergling was a prolific producer by 2009, creating tracks at a rapid pace. During this time, he remixed “Sound of Now,” “Muja,” “Ryu,” and “Even.” He went by the stage moniker Avicii, which he stated signifies “the lowest level of Buddhist hell.” Because his real name was already in use when he created his Myspace page, he picked the alias.

He released the song “Seek Bromance” in 2010, which reached the top 20 in various countries, including France, Belgium, and the United Kingdom. He later joined EMI Music Publishing.

Avicii’s big musical breakthrough happened while he was only 18 years old. The breakthrough came in the shape of a Commodore 64 video game remix dubbed “Lazy Jones.” The hype generated by this recording led to his first record deal with Strike! Recordings and, eventually, his debut album, “Lazy Lace.”

Avicii’s star skyrocketed from that point on. He was nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for his single “Sunshine” alongside David Guetta. His journey began in 2010 and has taken him to countries all over the world.
