Trioli’s journalistic prowess shone through in her 2001 Walkley Award-winning interview with former defense minister Peter Reith during the Children Overboard Affair.

In 2005, Virginia Trioli made the move to Sydney to host the morning show on 702 ABC Sydney. However, she returned to Melbourne in 2008 to co-host News Breakfast, a role she assumed alongside notable figures like Barrie Cassidy, Joe O’Brien, Paul Kennedy, and Vanessa O’Hanlon. Her dedication to her craft saw her hosting various programs on ABC, including Lateline and Q&A.
