We’ve talked about Windows Live Photo Gallery in the past when we saw its effectiveness as a desktop photo organizer and management tool in the form of photo tagging. Now, when we talk about tagging people and faces, we immediately think of Facebook. So today we are going to tell you how you can upload photos and create albums on Facebook from the Photo Gallery interface.
If you don’t have this tool, you can get one by installing Windows Live Essentials Suite. And if you’re familiar with this tool, you might want to learn how to stitch photos to create panoramas or improve the quality of your photos by merging multiple photos. With this you will be able to edit photos, add effects and upload them from the same place.
There is actually precedent about Windows Live Essentials that all the tools in it are associated with your Windows Live/Hotmail ID. And if you want to add Facebook service on your desktop, you will have to link your profile with Live/Hotmail ID.
Steps to link Facebook and Windows Live accounts
If you already linked the accounts, you can skip this section and start from Step #7.
Step 1: Start Windows Live Photo Gallery (you can do it from the Start Menu), navigate to Share bottom Home page tab and click the downward triangular scroll arrow. Select Manage your services.
Step 2: You will be asked to Sign in to your Windows Live account. If you don’t have it yet, you can Sign Up.
Step 3: Navigate to the profile section and click Manage link on the left pane of the interface.
Step 4: On the next page, you will see a yellow highlighted area. Click service page connection link.
Step 5: Click on the Facebook icon.
Step 6: Select the settings and privileges that you want the profile to have access to and press the . button Connect with Facebook button. Before that, you’ll need to enter your credentials to complete account linking.
Steps to upload photos to Facebook
Steps 1 through 6 are a one-time setup, and the photo upload process starts here.
Step 7: Return to the Windows Live Photo Gallery interface and select the photos you want to upload to Facebook.
Step 8: Again navigate to Share bottom Home page tab and click the Facebook icon.
Step 9: A window will appear in which you can select an existing album or create a new one. When you’re ready, click Announced.
Depending on the number and size of the photos, the operation may take some time. Be patient until it is done.
At the end of this you will be shown a completion message. And if you want to verify if the photo has been uploaded, click See button.
Conclusion
Since I discovered this feature, I regularly use it to upload photos. I do this because I manage my photos with this tool and I can also edit them on the go.
