She completed her education at Church Park, Chennai’s Sacred Heart Matriculation School before enrolling in a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at Ethiraj College for Women.
She dabbled in modeling and made several appearances in print and television advertising. She won the “Miss Salem” beauty pageant in 1999, and later that year, she took first place in the Miss Chennai competition.

She received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil and the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics) – Tamil for the films Kodi and ’96, respectively.
Trisha is a passionate supporter of animals and has served as a PETA Goodwill Ambassador. In 2010, Trisha worked with PETA to make a public plea encouraging people to domesticate stray dogs rather than lust for pedigreed foreign breeds.
She also served as the Goodwill Ambassador for PETA’s 2010 “Angel for Animals” campaign, which urged people to adopt stray canines.
Trisha received accolades from PETA for her efforts, and the organization also gave her a letter of thanks praising her work in animal rescue and inspiring people to adopt community dogs from India.
