Trey Sermon siblings-American football running back, An’treyon “Trey” Sermon was born on January 30, 1999.
Sermon was born in St. Petersburg, Florida in the United States of America. He attended Marietta, Georgia’s Sprayberry High School. He made a commitment to play college football at Oklahoma University.
He participates in NFL competition with the Philadelphia Eagles. He attended Oklahoma and Ohio State during his collegiate football careers before being selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Trey Sermon career
Sermon participated in all 14 games while a true freshman at Oklahoma in 2017 and made three starts. He ran for 744 yards and five touchdowns on 121 carries to conclude the season.
He played alongside Kennedy Brooks as a sophomore in 2018, rushing for 947 yards on 164 carries and 13 touchdowns. He participated in nine games as a junior in 2019 and had 54 carries for 385 yards and four touchdowns.
In 2020, Sermon transferred to Ohio State University to pursue a graduate degree. Sermon’s 331 running yards in the 2020 Big Ten Championship Game versus Northwestern University were a record for an Ohio State player and the most ever in a Football Bowl Subdivision championship game. He won game MVP honors.
Sermon led his team to a 49-28 victory over Clemson in the 2021 Sugar Bowl by rushing for 193 yards, scoring a rushing touchdown, and receiving 4 catches for 61 yards.
Sermon was hurt on the opening play of the 2021 National Championship Game against Alabama and did not return.
The San Francisco 49ers selected Sermon in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft (88th overall). On July 21, 2021, he agreed to a four-year rookie contract.
In 2021, Sermon began his first season as the backup running back to Elijah Mitchell and Raheem Mostert.
In Week 3, he got his first career start, rushing for 31 yards and a touchdown and adding two receptions for three yards and another score. On December 4, 2021, he was placed on injured reserve due to an ankle injury he sustained in Week 12.
He became operational on January 11, 2022. The 49ers released Sermon on August 31, 2022. Sermon was taken off waivers by the Philadelphia Eagles on September 1, 2022.
