The Global Peace Index (GPI) has published a list of the world’s most peaceful countries in 163 autonomous states and territories in 2023.
While Iceland was named the most peaceful country in the world, Mauritius was named the most tranquil country in Africa, followed by Botswana and Sierra Leone.
Nigeria and a few other West African countries were left off the list due to the region’s deteriorating security situation.
