Beatrice Kristi Ilejay Laus, professionally known as Beabadoobee, is a Filipino-English singer and songwriter. She released five extended plays on the independent label Dirty Hit between 2018 and 2021: Lice (2018), Patched Up (2018), Loveworm (2019), Space Cadet (2019), and Our Extended Play (2021). Fake It Flowers, her maiden studio album, was released in October 2020 to tremendous praise. Beatopia, her second studio album, was released on July 15, 2022.
Beabadoobee toured with labelmates 1975 on many legs of their Music for Cars Tour and American vocalist Clairo on her Immunity Tour. She received the Radar Award at the 2020 NME Awards and was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2020 Brit Awards. In an annual BBC poll of music reviewers, Sound of 2020, Beabadoobee was also tipped as a breakthrough performer for 2020. Beabadoobee was a support act on Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour in 2023.
Who influenced Beabadoobee into music?
Laus’ musical influences include Elliott Smith, Mac DeMarco, the Mouldy Peaches, Pavement, Mazzy Star, the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, and Daniel Johnston. She has a tattoo of the artwork from Johnston’s album Continued Story with Texas Instruments. In a 2018 interview with Vice, she stated that she wants to produce film soundtracks in the future because they encouraged her to make music.
In a 2022 interview with Rolling Stone UK, Laus listed Matty Healy as her mentor, adding that he’s “one of the nicest people” and “always has the best thing to say.” Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Khalid, and Jaden Smith, in addition to Healy, have all voiced their adoration for Beabadoobee.

Beabadoobee’s 2017 debut track “Coffee” was sampled by Canadian rapper Powfu for his 2019 single “Death Bed (Coffee for Your Head).” After getting viral on the app TikTok in early 2020, the song became a phenomenally popular sleeper hit, earning Beabadoobee’s first official chart entry in her career, both domestically and abroad.
By April 2020, it had risen to the top of the rankings in various nations, including the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. It received gold certification in Belgium, Canada, France, Mexico, and New Zealand, as well as platinum or higher in the United States and the United Kingdom, among other nations.
