Still Wakes the Deep trailers

The first trailer for Still Wakes the Deep was shared during the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2023.

It was primarily an announcement trailer, setting up the concept and feel of the game. It featured a few in-engine scenes, along with some smalls bits that looked like gameplay.

Since then, a documentary-style ‘world building’ trailer has been shared, which features footage from the game as well as interviews with the developers.

The most recent showing for the game was the gameplay first look, which debuted at the Xbox Partner Preview on October 25th, 2023.

It featured a short gameplay segment, showing the protagonist travelling under the oil rig, before heading back inside to a flooded area, where the game’s monster can be heard following behind.

Still Wakes the Deep is a first-person, narrative-driven horror game set during 1975 on an oil rig off the coast of Scotland, where disaster has suddenly struck, causing the rig to begin collapsing.

You’ll play one of the oil rig workers as you try to find a way to escape and search for survivors, dealing with the fatal conditions, your surroundings, and an unknowable horror that has found itself aboard.

The game won’t feature any weapons or combat, meaning you’ll likely need to focus on running and hiding if you have any encounters with the monster in the game. We don’t know how linear it will be, but based on The Chinese Room’s previous efforts, expect it to be fairly on-rails.
