Sam Fenech had a fatal accident at Willowbank Raceway on Saturday.
At the age of 55, Sam is a professional drag racer, a member of the ACDelco Slammer Drag Racing team.
The group expressed their condolences through a statement, “We are deeply saddened to confirm that Sam Fenech has passed away as a result of a racing accident this evening at Willowbank”.
The crash happened during the New Year Nitro event, round four of the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship.
It features the fastest drag racing cars with championship points on the road as drivers compete to win the Stan Sainty Cup.
The lineup includes Top Fuel Motorcycle, Top Doorlammer, etc.

Sam lost control of his trailer and it flipped over the safety fence before crashing to the ground.
The parachute was ejected from his car, but it did not mitigate the impact of the collision.
The crash happened on Saturday during the New Year Nitro event organized by the Willowbank Raceway.
Paramedics arrived at the scene to try to save Sam, but he died at the scene.
