Bray also set a Guinness World Record by hitting the bullseye on a normal dartboard from 10 feet away on Blackpool’s North Pier. He broke the previous day’s best of 9′ 6″ set by fellow PDC official Scott Gibling.
Bray declared on November 21, 2023, that he will retire at the end of the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship, but will continue to work with the PDC as an ambassador.
Bray has used his raspy voice in a variety of other media. He served as a referee in the PDC’s inaugural video game, PDC World Championship Darts, and then became the voice of Feasters, a microwave food business.
He has also done voiceover work for Coral, Ladbrokes, Cash Converters, and McCoy’s Crisps. He has also contributed his voice and name to Russ Bray Darts, a mobile app. In October, Bray made his boxing debut as the voice of Sky Sports Fight Night.
