Rudolph Isley reportedly passed away at 84 on Wednesday, 11 October 2023 at his home in Chicago.

“There are no words to express my feelings and love I have for my brother. Our family will miss him. But I know he’s in a better place,” his brother Ronald Isley said in a statement released on Thursday, October 13.

No other details, including the cause of death, were not disclosed. There’s also no information as to whether the late Isley Brothers co-founder was ill or had an accident.

Isley started singing with his brothers; Ronald and O’Kelly in the 1950s in church, but later found success with gospel track Shout, which went on to be popularised by Lulu in 1964.

The Isley Brothers produced hits like “Twist and Shout,” “This Old Heart of Mine” and “It’s Your Thing.” They have a career spanning more than six decades.

Together with his brothers, he was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1992. They were also honored with a BET Award in 2004.

The Isley Brothers have been nominated for multiple GRAMMY awards and received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Recording Academy in 2014.

The band was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June 2022. With Rudolph’s death, the only surviving Isley Brothers are Ronald and Ernie.
