In order to get the Rise of the Ronin Platinum, you’ll need to tick off the various Trophies which require you to complete many of the game’s open-world activities as well as the story.

Tasks include collecting cats, using various weaponry, completing technological upgrades, taking photographs, and even saving up on sen – the game’s same local currency that was used by Japan in the late 19th century.

Essentially, getting all of the Rise of the Ronin trophies will be more of a timesink than a challenge – since you can always play most of the game on the Easy/’Dawn’ difficulty.

Is there a difficulty trophy?

The exception of course to Rise of the Ronin’s simple achievements is the ‘Midnight Crossing’ Trophy, requiring you to play a whole mission with ‘Midnight’, the highest of its difficulty settings, enabled. With as brutal as the combat as this more challenging mode can be, as mentioned in my review, I found this the biggest obstacle in my playthrough altogether.

Nevertheless, I found myself still able to achieve this with a little trial and error taking some of the AI-controlled allies with me on the earlier missions. For me, I took Gonzo – who I recruited soon after the glider mission – into the ‘Locating the Camera’ mission.

Essentially becoming a scapegoat distraction for that quest’s boss, Mochisuke Kira, it was far easier to avoid taking damage and I had plenty more opportunities to deliver key blows to boot.
