Rich Bisaccia’s journey into the world of football began with his own experience as a defensive back at Yankton College in South Dakota. He was raised in Yonkers, New York, and completed his high school education while actively playing football at New Fairfield High School in Connecticut. These early experiences as a player paved the way for his future career in coaching.

His coaching odyssey initiated in 1983 when he joined Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, where he took on the roles of defensive backs and special teams coach. Over the years, he transitioned into coaching quarterbacks and wide receivers, demonstrating his versatility and adaptability within the coaching landscape.

In 1988, Rich Bisaccia’s journey led him to the University of South Carolina, where he started as a graduate assistant and progressed to coaching tight ends, wide receivers, defensive backs, and special teams. During his tenure, the Gamecocks led the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in kickoff returns in 1992 and achieved a school record for blocked kicks.

In 1994, he accepted a position at Clemson University as their running backs and special teams coach, marking another significant step in his coaching career. Subsequently, he joined the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 1999, initially as the running backs and special teams coach, and later earning a promotion to assistant head coach in 2000.

Rich Bisaccia’s NFL journey commenced in 2002 when he was hired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their special teams coordinator under head coach Jon Gruden. This collaboration culminated in the Buccaneers winning Super Bowl XXXVII in 2003. His tenure also saw significant achievements, including the first-ever kickoff return for a touchdown in franchise history in 2007.

He continued his NFL coaching career with the Dallas Cowboys, San Diego Chargers, and later, the Oakland Raiders, where he took on roles as assistant head coach and special teams coordinator. In 2021, he assumed the role of interim head coach for the Raiders, guiding the team to the playoffs in his sole season.
