Alexander James O’Connor, affectionately known as Rex Orange County is an English singer who was born on May 4th, 1998 in Grayshott, United Kingdom.
He was born to Nina O’Connor and Phil O’Connor. He shares the same parents with his sister but unfortunately, her name is not known.
He was raised in the Surrey community of Grayshott, close to Haslemere. O’Connor developed a love for music from a young age. O’Connor began singing in the school choir when he was five years old.

At the age of 16, County started playing the guitar and using Apple’s Logic program to create his own music. At this age, he also started going to the BRIT School, where he studied drumming and was one of four percussionists in his year.

Aimee Cliff of The Fader compared his work to “other artsy, post-genre young artists, like Kevin Abstract or Steve Lacy” in 2017. On October 11, 2017, County released her first song since Apricot Princess and Flower Boy found fame, “Loving Is Easy,” which she co-wrote with Dutch musician Benny Sings.
He made his broadcast debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on April 16, 2018, and he sang the song. Together with the song’s composer, Randy Newman, he released a cover of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” on May 31, 2018.
County had been invited to play on the French television show Quotidien on October 9, 2018, but he declined since it included a sketch by comedian Alison Wheeler mocking the Ku Klux Klan, which he found “tasteless.”

County dropped the song “New House” on February 14. He released “10/10,” the lead single off his third album Pony, on September 12 of the same year. His debut major-label album with RCA Records, Pony, was released on October 25, 2019.
In addition to a YouTube documentary, O’Connor published Live at Radio City Music Hall, an EP comprising recordings from his performance at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall on the Pony tour, on September 30, 2020.
County announced in October 2020 that he was working on his fourth studio album, Who Cares? He liked a Tweet that appeared to confirm that it would be launched at some point in 2021 in January.
This, however, did not come to pass. On January 13, 2022, he started publicly teasing the album by sending out postcards with a phone number that, when contacted, would play a sample of the song.
Released on March 11, 2022, the album debuted at the top of the UK Albums Chart before Impera by Ghost. Due to “unforeseen personal difficulties,” County postponed tour dates in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe in July 2022.
County had an appearance in Southwark Crown Court on October 10, 2022, when he was accused of six charges of sexual assault against the same victim that allegedly occurred in June 2021. He was granted bail after entering a not guilty plea to all charges. His trial is tentatively set for January 3, 2023.
Following an inquiry by the Crown Prosecution Service, County declared in a statement that all charges against him had been dropped and the matter will be dismissed on December 22, 2022.
The complainant’s version did not line up with CCTV evidence or a police interview with her partner, who was present on the night in question; as a result, the case failed to satisfy the CPS’s legal requirements for prosecution.
