Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was announced as the second part of the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy that commenced with major success back in 2020. The seventh instalment of the Final Fantasy series is not only the most popular entry, but one of the most popular games of all time, so fans will be delighted to see the game expanded upon and enhanced with state-of-the-art graphics.

Rebirth will continue the story that was left at the end of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, bringing back familiar faces and locales alongside carving a new path for itself. The name certainly suggests a new vision for the game, but we will have to see how things pan out.

Is there a release window for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?

We finally know that Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth will launch on PS5 on February 29, 2024 – meaning we’re just a few months away.

The game will arrives on two discs, too, so expect plenty of content – including the Golden Saucer.

Are there any Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth trailers?

This first trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was shown at the FF7 25th anniversary celebration in June 2022.

The trailer begins with Cloud and Sephiroth walking through a rural region, before cutting to Cloud and Zack (from the Crisis Core prequel) in each other’s arms, looking worse for wear after an encounter of some sort.

Players from the original may recognise the area from the trailer – although it looks considerably prettier than it was in 1997 – but it looks like the developers are continuing to reimagine the story and its order of events, like with Remake.

State of Play for September 2023 showcased an extended look at the game, including the Weapons, Vincent, and a little more Zack Fair. Check it out below.

Are there any Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gameplay details?

While there are no details on gameplay for Rebirth, FF7 Remake was drastically altered in a few ways from the original, and it’s likely that Rebirth will continue with the same gameplay systems and mechanics. While exploration was still the same, the combat changed quite a bit by utilising a real-time system instead of the original’s turn-based one.

They still included elements of this with the Active Time Battle (ATB) system, which was altered from the original by gradually filling up over time, allowing players to halt the action and use special abilities after some time.

You can also switch between different characters during combat, so with Rebirth – where more characters are likely to be introduced – we’re likely to get more fighting styles and unique moves to take advantage of. With the increased size of the world and expanded story and plotlines, Rebirth should have a lot of new content to satisfy players along with all the updated elements from the original.

The only announced platform for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth so far is the PlayStation 5. Considering that both Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 16 were both PlayStation exclusives at the time of launch, it would be surprising to see this change for Rebirth.
