Raf Manji Education: Born in 1966, Raf Manji, also known as Raf Alfred Manji is a New Zealand politician.

On 27 January 2022, he was announced as the new leader of The Opportunities Party and will contest the Ilam seat at the 2023 New Zealand general election.

Raf Manji’s primary and high school education are unknown to us as of this writing. He graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in economics and social studies. Later he earned a Graduate Diploma in Politics and a Masters in International Law and Politics from the University of Canterbury.

With a background in governance, finance, and social enterprise, Manji is the leader of The Opportunities Party (TOP).

Manji was first elected to the Christchurch City Council for the Fendalton-Waimairi ward in 2013 and was re-elected in the Waimairi Ward in 2016.

After being elected to the Christchurch City Council in 2013, Manji retired from the Council at the 2019 New Zealand local elections

Following the 2019 Christchurch mosque shootings, he suggested that inequality resulting from financial deregulation had helped radicalize alt-right terrorism

Subsequently, Manji was appointed to chair an advisory group to decide how to use the money raised to support the victims

Following the approach used after the Grenfell Tower fire, he established a “listening project” and spent time meeting with victims and hearing their stories

After the hearing, in November 2020, Manji advocated for a $34.8 million government compensation package for victims and their families.

On 27 January 2022, he was announced as the new leader of The Opportunities Party and will contest the Ilam seat at the 2023 New Zealand general election.
