Quickly Create A List Of Installed Programs With CCleaner

Let’s say you’re upgrading your operating system or you’re buying a new PC. To install the same set of programs that you are used to working with, it is helpful to have a list of the programs you have installed on your previous computer. When it’s time for a fresh install on your new computer or a newly formatted computer, you won’t have to search for that particular software.

One of the ways to do it with the click of a button is CCleaner. CCleaner is a very good system maintenance freeware, so chances are you will install it or don’t mind installing it.

Here’s how to run that list:

1. Open CCleaner. Click the Tools icon in the left panel.

2. In the Uninstall screen, click the Save to text file… button.

Ccleaner

3. Select a location and enter a name for the text file (default is install.txt), then click Save.

You can open the text file with Notepad or any text editor. Print it out if you need a hard copy. I sometimes find this technique useful because we tend to remember the big names but forget the little tools we have installed. Another plus of using CCleaner is that it also gives you the version number of each software included in the installation list. Neat, right?
