Pokemon GO events schedule for October 2023

Pokemon GO hosts loads of special events each month that give Trainers opportunities to catch themed Pokemon or complete research quests, so here’s the full schedule of events to look forward to in October 2023.

One of the best things about Pokemon GO is that it’s constantly updated with features to enjoy, whether that’s a new Pokemon to catch and evolve, a fresh gameplay mechanic like PokeStop Showcases, or a Timed Research quest that leads to a rare item like the Master Ball.

Alongside these new features are limited-time events that celebrate things like Halloween or Sustainability Week. Then there are the popular Spotlight Hours and Community Days that take place on a regular schedule – so there’s quite a lot to keep track of!

Below, you’ll find the upcoming events schedule for Pokemon GO in October 2023. We’ll keep it updated as new information gets revealed, so make sure you check back regularly.

Pokemon GO events schedule for October 2023

Here are all of the events taking place in Pokemon GO throughout October:

Out To Play event (September 27 – October 2)

Routes are the focus of the Out To Play event in Pokemon GO, with a 3x XP bonus for completing Routes and faster Buddy Candy while following Routes. Niantic has confirmed that Routes will be easier to find and the level required to create them has been lowered.

There will also be free Timed Research, paid Timed Research, and some event-exclusive Field Research tasks, all of which lead to encounters with Hisuian Growlithe. This is a great time to hunt its Shiny version, which makes its debut during the Out To Play event.

Unannounced event (October 5 – October 9)

An unconfirmed event will take place near the start of October. We have a sneaky feeling this might be a tie-in with the new Detective Pikachu Returns game, which is due out on Nintendo Switch on October 6, 2023.

We’ll update this page once details of the mystery event are confirmed.

Harvest Festival event (October 12 – October 17)

Not much has been revealed for the Harvest Festival event yet, other than the fact that Pumpkaboo and its evolution Gourgeist will be appearing in PokeStop Showcases.

This is a pretty good sign that these spooky pumpkins be the focus of the event, but we’ll update this page once more details get confirmed.

Timburr Community Day (October 15)

The star of October’s Community Day event is none other than Timburr, the Muscular Pokemon. This popular Fighting-type creature will spawn more frequently in the wild, and you’ll have a higher chance of finding a Shiny version.

If you evolve a Gurdurr (Timburr’s evolution) during the event, you’ll get a Conkeldurr that knows the Dark-type attack Brutal Swing. There will also be a paid-for Muscle Memories Special Research quest available from the in-game shop.

Incense Day (October 21)

The headliner for October’s Incense Day event hasn’t been revealed yet, but we can expect loads of themed Pokemon to be attracted to Incense throughout the event as well as a featured attack for the headliner.

Pokemon GO Halloween 2023 Part 1 (October 19 – October 26)

This year’s Halloween event is split into two parts, with the first part lasting for a whole week.

We don’t know too much about the event yet, but this first part will include PokeStop Showcases with Shuppet and Banette, which might give you an idea of the Pokemon you’ll be able to encounter!

There’s also an unannounced PokeStop Showcase on the schedule… could we be getting a spooky Pokemon debut?

Pokemon GO Halloween 2023 Part 2 (October 26 – October 31)

We don’t know much about the second part of this year’s Halloween event, either, but we do know it will feature a Team Go Rocket takeover, where the team lineups for the Team Go Rocket Leaders and Giovanni will get shaken up.

There will also be PokeStop Showcases with Phantump, Gastly, and Gengar, so it seems safe to assume there’s going to be a lot of Ghost-type Pokemon to encounter during this event.
