For the season, he recorded 18 double-doubles. Reed forwent his last season of eligibility after the season and announced his intention to enter the 2020 NBA draft.

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Reed with the 58th overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft.

He signed a two-way contract with the 76ers on December 3, which stipulated that he would alternate time between the 76ers and their G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.

On January 4, 2021, Reed made his NBA debut against the Charlotte Hornets in a 118-101 victory. Reed played the final 90 seconds of the game and scored two points on his lone field goal attempt.

Paul competed with the Blue Coats in the 2021 G League’s condensed single-site season, where he was named the league’s Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year.

The 76ers revealed that they had changed Reed’s contract to a typical NBA one on March 26, 2021. On November 27, 2022, Reed helped his team defeat the Orlando Magic by grabbing 13 rebounds and scoring 12 points.
