Path of Exile 2 closed beta release date, trailers & more

Having been announced in 2019, it won’t be long until gamers can dive into the Path of Exile 2 beta. On top of the details on when its beta releases, we’ve also got an insight into the game through the trailers we’ve seen so far and what platforms it’ll be arriving on.

Path of Exile 2 is a sequel to the 2013 original that was first released on PC (and then on consoles in the following years), with the original also having had a lengthy beta before full release and taking quite some time to arrive on consoles. Luckily, it seems like that won’t be the case with PoE 2.

When does PoE 2’s beta launch?

Fans will be able to enjoy the beta when it releases on June 7, 2024. However, this will be a closed beta with an open one following later down the line (the date of which has not been announced – I’ll update this once it has).

It’s still not clear how long the beta will last or how it can be joined, but in the past, players have been able to join via random invites or by signing up online.

What platforms will it be on?

While it’s still unknown what platforms the beta of Path of Exile 2 will be released on, according to the website, PoE 2 is slated to arrive on PC, PS5, Mac, and Xbox Series X|S

It looks like this latest iteration of the series will leave behind the previous generation of consoles. The original Path of Exile was released on day one on PC but only came to Xbox four years later, arriving on PlayStation two years after that before finally being playable on Mac.

All Path of Exile 2 trailers so far

The first trailer gives a taste of what to expect from the game as well as an insight into the character selection and how gameplay will look. Additionally, the trailer also highlights how this time around there will be two campaigns with a seven-act storyline.

The second trailer is much of the same, although the narration in the trailer is amazing (I could listen to him talk all day long).

On top of that, it provides a first look at some of the game’s bosses and a better look at what can be expected from the gameplay. Oddly, two trailers in, we’ve still not seen any multiplayer gameplay, despite the game being for six players.

The most recent trailer offers a better look at what we can expect from the 12 different classes in the game and some more bosses. It also highlights the game will feature:

  • 36 Ascendancy Classes
  • 100 bosses
  • 100 different environments
  • 240 active skills
  • 600 monsters
  • 700 equipment types
  • 1500 passive skills

All in all, this third trailer showcases just how much new gameplay is on offer and justifies why this is more than just an expansion to the first game.
