Kaplinsky has been recognized and celebrated as one of the most eloquent and outstanding journalists on screen. She commenced her journalism journey in 1996 when she presented on F2F, a youth chat show, for Granada Talk TV.
After that, she started giving Meridian’s early morning news bulletins. She began co-presenting Meridian Tonight, their nightly news program, in less than six months.
After moving to ITV’s London News Network in 1999, Kaplinsky anchored a political program called Seven Days in addition to London Today and London Tonight.
After joining Sky News in November 2000, Kaplinsky co-hosted the breakfast news show Sunrise before moving on to co-host the early evening bulletin Live at Five with Jeremy Thompson.
In November 2002, she was recruited by BBC to be the host of their morning show, BBC Breakfast with Dermot Murnaghan on weekdays, from Monday to Thursday. She was ranked as the Third most-youngest female to present the BBC’s 10 O’clock News.
Kaplinsky was also appointed to join in the relaunch of Five on February 18, 2008. She took her first maternity leave from Five on August 21, 2008, and then took another one after her daughter was born.
After spending most of her three years at the network on maternity leave, Kaplinsky announced on October 14, 2010, that she would be leaving her position at Channel 5 at the end of the year. She delivered her last Five News bulletin on December 23, 2010.
Summer 2011 marked Kaplinsky’s debut as an ITV presenter. She was the host of a brand-new Sunday entertainment series called Born to Shine, which aimed to promote Save the Children, a charity that Natasha is an ambassador for.
She returned to fronting London Tonight in September 2011, taking over for lead anchor Nina Hossain. She also presented a number of ITV News programs on occasion.
The People’s Medal, a documentary on The Queen’s Birthday Honours List, was given by Kaplinsky on August 19, 2013.
Alongside journalist Mark Williams-Thomas, Kaplinsky hosted the documentary On the Run on October 29, 2013, and on November 12, 2013, the two went on to deliver a second documentary, Missing Without Trace.
After competing in the inaugural season of the celebrity ballroom dance program Strictly Come Dance in 2004, Kaplinsky and partner Brendan Cole emerged victorious.
After Tess Daly, the usual presenter, took maternity leave in 2004, Kaplinsky and Bruce Forsyth co-presented the first part of the second series.
In 2012, she made a comeback to the show, appearing in the Christmas Special. In 2018, she participated in the BAFTA tribute to Sir Bruce Forsyth.
