Rachel Anne Maddow is an American television news anchor and liberal political commentator. The 49-year-old is the host of The Rachel Maddow Show, a weekly program on MSNBC, and also co-anchors the cable network’s special events.

Rachel Anne Maddow was born on April 1st, 1973 in Castro Valley, California. Her father, Robert B. Maddow, a former captain in the United States Air Force, resigned from his position and began working as a lawyer for the East Bay Municipal Utility District a year before her birth. Elaine (née Gosse), her mother, oversaw several academic initiatives. David Maddow is her only older brother.

Rachel Anne Maddow was a bright student when she was younger, and according to her parents, she had taught herself to read by the time she was four years old. In high school, she participated in volleyball, basketball, and swimming competitions as a standout athlete, but in her final year, she sustained a shoulder injury that caused her to reconsider a career in sports.

Being gay was something of a taboo where Rachel was raised. In Castro Valley, racism and homophobia were prevalent. Even before she was aware of her own homosexuality, Rachel Anne Maddow had sympathy for LGBT individuals.

When Rachel Maddow arrived at Stanford University, she discovered that she was gay but then she found out that none of the 1,000 students in her class at Stanford had come out as gay. After that, Rachel decided to conduct an interview with a buddy who was also coming out for the school newspaper even though she hadn’t yet come out to her parents at this point.

The weekend before the newspaper she confirmed to be gay was going to be published, Rachel Maddow intended to tell her parents about her sexual orientation before the newspaper is published, however, the news reached her parents before she could break it to them because the newspaper was published before the weekend.

Together with her partner Susan Mikula who is an artist, Rachel Anne Maddow divides her time between West Cummington, Massachusetts, and Manhattan, New York. Susan Mikula and Rachel Maddow met when she was completing her doctoral dissertation in 1999. Since adolescence, Rachel Anne Maddow has struggled with cyclical depression which she has talked about in some interviews of hers to educate the public.

When Rachel was 12 years old, she was diagnosed with cyclical depression, and she has battled it ever since. Rachel’s sickness doesn’t diminish her enjoyment of her job or who she is as a person, but she still needs to deal with it on a regular basis.

Through her distinctive narrative style, Rachel Maddow offers in-depth reporting to shed light on the status of current political affairs and also highlights the significance of openness and accountability from the leaders. Due to her sexual orientation as a lesbian, Rachel Maddow does not have any biological children of her own but there are rumors that she has an adopted daughter, though.

Even though gay marriage is legal in Massachusetts, Rachel Ann Maddow admits that she is not a wedding person. After making her television debut, Rachel quickly won over the fans’ hearts. She was loved for being lesbian and for not looking like other television personalities and anchors. Rachel Ann Maddow is estimated to be worth $30 million.
