In the 49-42 loss versus No. 1 Alabama in 2013, Evans hauled in seven catches for a school-record 279 yards. He broke his own record against #24 Auburn by accumulating 11 receptions for 287 yards and four touchdowns.

Evans declared on January 2, 2014, that he would skip his final two seasons of college eligibility and join the 2014 NFL Draft instead. One selection after his college teammate Jake Matthews, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Evans with the seventh overall choice in the 2014 NFL Draft.

After sitting out the season opening due to a hamstring injury, Evans made his season debut against the New Orleans Saints on September 20, 2015. The following week, in a 19-9 loss to the Houston Texans, Evans hauled in seven passes for 101 receiving yards. Evans

Evans began the inaugural game of the 2016 season for the Buccaneers, defeating the Atlanta Falcons 31–24 with five receptions for 99 yards and a score. In a 37-32 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on September 25, 2016, Evans hauled in 10 catches for 132 receiving yards and a score.

Evans became the first player in Buccaneers history to start a season with touchdown receptions in three straight games. Evans caught eight catches for 96 yards and two scores in a Week 7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

The Buccaneers exercised Evans’s fifth-year option on April 17, 2017. Evans and the Buccaneers had to postpone their Week 1 game because of Hurricane Irma.

Evans surpassed the franchise record most receiving yards in a postseason game in the Wild Card Round of the 2020–21 NFL Playoffs, defeating the Washington Football Team 31–23 on the strength of six receptions for 119 yards. Since Super Bowl XXXVII, this was Tampa Bay’s first playoff victory.

Evans had 74 receptions for 1,035 yards and 14 touchdowns by the time the regular season in 2021 came to an end. Evans contributed to the Philadelphia Eagles’ 31-15 defeat in the Wild Card Round with nine receptions for 117 yards and a score.

Evans was dismissed from the game in Week 2’s 20-10 victory against the New Orleans Saints after getting into a physical altercation with Marshon Lattimore late in the game.
