After the success of his 1992 picture Bob Roberts, he was initially given the opportunity to record an album, but he turned it down because he had “too much respect for the process,” after witnessing his father’s tireless efforts as a musician, and because he thought he had nothing to say at the time.

In Season 2 (2011) and Season 3, he directed the episodes “Everything I Do Gonh Be Funky” and “Promised Land” (2012). During his time in New Orleans for the Green Lantern movie shoot, Robbins developed an interest in the series. “I enjoyed the rare opportunity to watch Treme with locals.

Due to the absurd representations and misinterpretations of their community, it immediately struck a chord with them as well as with me ” In 2011, he spoke to The Times-Picayune. “They saw that this show was unique in some way. Thank you for that. I adored the actors and the writing. I adored the setting in which it is set. In addition, I saw the entire first season in New Orleans. I then contacted David Simon and offered to direct an episode if he needed on the next year.” He served on the jury for the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival in 2013.
