The New Orleans Pelicans point guard’s parents are Odilia Martinez and Jose Alvarado Sr. Yet he was close to his grandma Diana Martinez, who passed away in 2017 from stomach cancer.

In his early years, Alvarado played football, but due to an injury, he stopped playing, switching his attention to basketball instead.
