The body concluded that it would have recommended Bercow’s expulsion had he remained an MP and that he should never have been allowed into the parliamentary estate. The Labor Party subsequently suspended him. As of 2023, he is the only living former Speaker of the House.

He is also a lifelong tennis fan, having played against Andrew Castle and Jeremy Bates in his youth. John Bercow is a director and shareholder of Fedhead Limited and his wife owns 24% of the company.
