After a standout 2022 Super Rugby season with the Blues, Telea was called up to the All Blacks team on June 30, 2022, as a substitute.

He was selected at age 14 to start against Scotland on November 12, 2022. His first game saw him score two tries.

He scored two tries against France on September 8, 2023, in the tournament’s opening match, the fastest opening try in the tournament’s history. His first try came 91 seconds after the game began.
