Purl has appeared on numerous occasions in the international touring production of Seven Deadly Sins Four Deadly Sinners. Marc Sinden directed her in November 2007 at the Théâtre Princesse Grace in Monte Carlo as part of Sinden’s British Theatre Season in Monaco.
Purl debuted as Amanda in a production of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie at the Cleveland Play House in Cleveland, Ohio in 2008.
After leaving Matlock, Purl pursued a career in jazz music, releasing several albums, including Out of This World – Live.
She was born to Jewish parents, Raymond Charles Arthur Purl, a chemical industry executive, and Marshelline “Marshie” Purl. Mara is her sister.
