Famous American actress, Laverne Cox was born on May 29th, 1972 in Mobile, Alabama in the United States of America.
She is well-known for her advocacy for the LGBTQi community in the United State. Laverne was the first transgender to be nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards in an acting category.
She also become the first to be nominated for an Emmy Award since composer, Angela Morley in 1990. Her portrayal of Sophia Burset in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black helped her gain notoriety.
Cox co-produced and co-hosted the VH1 makeover television series TRANSform Me and participated as a contestant in the first season of the reality series I Want to Work for Diddy on VH1. Cox received the Stephen F. Kolzak Award from GLAAD in April 2014 in recognition of her efforts on behalf of the transgender community.
