After what feels like a ridiculously long wait, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is finally upon us. We’ve waited almost an entire decade to see a new game release from developer Rocksteady Games, with its last outing as the Caped Crusader releasing all the way back in 2015.
However, the early preview reception to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League hasn’t been all that great, with fans remaining a little sceptical about how fun this anti-hero-focused game will be.
Whether you’re on the fence about if you should pick up the new Suicide Squad game, or if you’re looking for a decent alternative altogether, we’ve rounded up a list of five games that you should consider playing instead. These games are available on both PC and console, so there’s something here for everybody.
Best games like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Marvel’s Avengers

Marvel’s Avengers may not have started well in its life, but towards the end of its time in the spotlight, Crystal Dynamics managed to cultivate a live-service title that was genuinely quite enjoyable to play. It features a full set of Avengers to play as, straight from the official comics, such as Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, The Incredible Hulk, and many more.
There’s a full story to play through here which heavily follows the young Kamala Kahn. Once that’s done, there’s a full set of end-game content to grind through too, building up your characters by upgrading their abilities and gear.
The only catch with Marvel’s Avengers is that you need to already own it to play it. Crystal Dynamics pulled the game from sale in September 2023, so only those who own a physical or digital copy can access the game at the moment, and online features are severely hampered.
However, if you have the capacity to give Marvel’s Avengers a try, it’s a stellar alternative to what Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League looks to offer.
Gotham Knights

If you’re a die-hard DC fan, then you’ll likely enjoy playing through Gotham Knights, another co-op multiplayer game that’s set in a similar universe to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. However, this title is developed by WB Games Montreal, and as such is not set in the Arkham-verse.
Still, it’s an authentic DC game through and through, letting the player choose to play as either Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, or Robin. Each of the four heroes has a unique playstyle, which lets them approach the many encounters that Gotham has to offer in different ways.
It’s possible to play the entire game through in single-player, but you’ll likely get the most out of this game by playing in co-op – similar to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Since the game has been out for just over a year now, you can find some decent discounts on it, too.
Gears 5

Those playing on Xbox have Gears 5 to turn to, which I think has some similarities in gameplay to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. More specifically, it seems like King Shark handles quite similarly to the characters in Gears 5, which are intentionally bulky powerhouses, wielding high-damage weapons with slow-ish movement.
Gears 5 was one of the last first-party games to be released on the Xbox One, and as such is a proper stunner to look at. It’s backwards compatible on the newer Xbox Consoles too, and it looks stunning when running at 4k or in the high-FPS mode.
If you’re looking for something slightly different but carries a similar vibe to Suicide Squad, then Gears 5 is an excellent shout.
Sunset Overdrive

If there’s one thing that stands out about Suicide Squad so far, it’s the movement mechanics. Whether you’re playing as Harley, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, or Deadshot, you’ll be flinging yourself across Metropolis in all sorts of funky ways, usually massacring the infected population below.
There’s a niche game that this reminds me of, and that’s Sunset Overdrive from Insomniac Games. Yes, before Insomniac was crafting the impeccable Spider-Man games for PlayStation, it created a neon-filled, skateboard-themed theme park of a game for Xbox consoles back in 2014.

In Sunset Overdrive, you’ll traverse your way through a city by grinding on rails and swinging from the rooftops as you look to clear infection from the city’s population. Sound familiar? I think so, anyway. It still looks and plays great in 2024, and even got a PC port a few years ago that runs great on Steam Deck.
LEGO DC Super-Villains

Last up on my list is LEGO DC Super-Villains, a game that has a remarkably similar setup to Kill the Justice League. You pick up the story as a new villain recruit, working with the Joker and his gang to break out of prison and wreak havoc on the cities of Gotham and Metropolis.
When you quickly encounter the Justice League, you realise that something’s not quite right about them, and these versions of the characters are more evil than heroes. What follows is an intriguing story as you take control of LEGO-fied versions of various DC villains from throughout the deep comic universe – including all the main characters from the Suicide Squad game.
Of course, LEGO DC Super-Villains is much more casual than Rocksteady’s upcoming game, but that can be a nice change of pace. It’s playable in two-player co-op and would make a great family game if that’s what you’re looking for.
