Tharun Sudhir made the initial announcement of the film on 16 February 2022, corresponding with Darshan’s birthday, but did not disclose much specifics. The idea was originally attributed to Umapathy Srinivas Gowda, however, it did not come to fruition. Subsequently, Rockline Venkatesh took over control of the project, and on 16 February 2022, an announcement was made by unveiling a poster. The project was named “Kaatera”, inspired by the renowned deity Kaateramma, who holds significance in Karnataka. Jagadeesh Kumar Hampi, known for his work in the film Guru Shishyaru, is co-writing the project. Acclaimed dialogue writer Maasti was recruited. The renowned actor Kumar Govind was officially signed on his birthday, 17 March 2023, through the release of a promotional poster.
Collection at the Box Office
Kaatera debuted in theatres with an initial box office revenue of $1.321 million on its first day. The picture continued to perform well, earning $1.11 million even on its fourth day. On the second day, the film garnered a remarkable Rs.7.85 crore, bringing the cumulative box office earnings to Rs.18.85 crore. The global box office revenue for Darshan’s film has surpassed $5.8 million, while the net collection in India stands at $5.2 million. This will increase over time.
