Karen Bass Husband: Is Karen Bass Married? – Karen Bass was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of DeWitt Talmadge Bass and Wilhelmina Bass. Her father delivered mail, and her mother was a stay-at-home mom.

She was raised in the Los Angeles communities of Venice and Fairfax and received her high school diploma from Alexander Hamilton in 1971.

As a child, she and her father watched television coverage of the civil rights movement, which sparked their interest in community activism. When Bass was in middle school, he began volunteering for Bobby Kennedy’s presidential campaign.

Labor unions contributed $101,950 to her campaign, followed by financial institutions with $90,350, healthcare providers with $87,900, the entertainment sector with $52,400, and lawyers and law firms with $48,650. On November 2, 2010, Bass won the election with more than 86% of the vote.

Bass established the Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth (CCFY) when he first joined Congress. This bipartisan group of lawmakers creates policy recommendations to improve the child welfare system.

The passage of the Family First Prevention Services Act, also known as Family First, which was included in the Bipartisan Budget Act and became law on February 9, 2018, was one of the group’s most notable accomplishments.

By addressing the most common causes of child removal from their homes and placement in foster care, this reform seeks to transform child welfare systems across the nation.

On September 27, 2021, Karen reportedly declared her intention to run for mayor of Los Angeles in the 2022 election. Her campaign was focused on finding solutions to the city of Los Angeles’ homelessness problem and dismantling homeless camps that were located close to playgrounds, parks, and beaches. Antonio Villaraigosa, a former mayor, is behind Bass.

Bass won the most votes in the June 7 primary. In the November runoff, he was opposed by Rick Caruso.

The Associated Press announced Bass as the mayor-elect on November 16. She is the city of Los Angeles’ first Black female mayor and takes over for Tom Bradley. Caruso spent $100 million of his own money on his campaign.
