John Mayer Dad: Meet Richard Mayer – Richard E Mayer is a professor of psychology and an educational psychologist at the University of California at Santa Barbara where he served since 1975. He was an American citizen, born on October 12, 1927, and resided in Bridgeport in Fairfield with his wife Margaret Hoffman.

He received his Ph.D. in psychology from Michigan University and at Indiana University, he served as a visiting assistant professor in psychology (1973-1975). The brilliant professor made significant contributions in his field which resulted in these awards; E.L. Thorndike 2000, James Mckeen Cattell Fellow awards 2018, and the winner of Distinguished Contribution of Application Psychology to Education and Training award 2008. The outstanding performance of Richard Mayer ranked him 1st as the most productive educational psychologist in the world.
