Jane Seymour career

Seymour made her screen debut in the 1969 musical comedy Oh! What a Lovely War as an uncredited extra. She then moved on to major roles in both film and television, such as a major part in The Onedin Line (1972–1973) and the part of psychic Bond girl Solitaire in the James Bond movie Live and Let Die (1973).

A nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for Captains and the Kings (1976) came after the series received critical acclaim.

For the miniseries East of Eden (1981), Seymour earned her first Golden Globe Award in 1982 for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television.

Seymour was cast as Dr. Michaela Quinn in the 1993 television series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, a Wild West-set medical drama that ran for six seasons. 

The show generated four nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama (including one win), two nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, and two nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

In addition to receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Seymour was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2000.

2020 saw Jane in the lead role of Michael Budd’s Australian comedy/drama Ruby’s Choice. It centers on Ruby (played by Seymour), a woman with early-stage dementia, and her family’s reactions to her moving in with them after she can no longer live alone. She was awarded the Best Actress Network Award by the Australian film industry.

On March 3, 2022, the movie opened in theaters throughout Australia and New Zealand. Ruby’s Choice made its debut at the 37th Santa Barbara International Film Festival on March 7, 2022, in Santa Barbara, California. The film was nominated for Best International Feature Film.

Ruby’s Choice won Best Foreign Film and Best Feature Film at the Burbank International Film Festival (BIFF) on September 24, 2023. Tim Burton, the renowned director, was being honored at the same time as the event.

On May 7, 2024, “Ruby’s Choice” will be made available across North America. In 2024, she is also scheduled to feature in the Netflix film Irish Wish.
